Two months later….

Well, it is has been two months since my last post.  What has happened?

– The first three weeks of January saw Jaime working his ass off and doing really well. The first three weeks of February basically reversed all that progress.  What? It’s a process.

– Obama was sworn in as our first black president. His speech made me cry. I still believe he will turn around our country, but what the hell is up with this stimulus package? Billions of dollars, my dollars and yours, are going to build roads and bail out banks… Well how is that going to help me? I mean, I understand these projects will give people jobs and money and they will buy stuff and go eat in restaurants and tip and will help local economies. But how does this help me?  Thats what we all want to know, right? Not in anyway that I can tell. So why did Obama not use at least a little bit of this next $800 billion to send us all a stimulus check?  Send me $2,000, Mr. President.  I will use half of that to pay my credit cards and the other half I would spend. Instant injection of money into the economy.  Easy.  I’ll hold my breath.

– Madonna is embarking on a second European leg of her Sticky & Sweet Tour in Summer ’09.  I hate this. Why is she going back on the same tour? Madonna has never done this before. I believe its because she didn’t play many dates in European cities the first time around and also she knows she can make more money. To me this is just taking up another year and stalling a new album or any other new projects.  She also started fucking Jesus Luz. He’s young, hot and hung and I’m hoping Madonna is having lots of hot sex. Madonna + Hot Sex = The return of raunchy Madonna = Good music + Good videos, etc.  Already love the new W photo-shoot.

– Sean Penn won the Oscar for his portrayal of Harvey Milk in MILK.  I”m so happy he won, but I am still shocked that he beat out Mickey Rourke, who everyone thought was going to be the shoe-in. Dustin Lance Black also won for best screenplay and his acceptance speech was beautiful.

Chris Brown beat the shit out of Rihanna and should be banned and blacklisted.

Jaime went to Tahoe for some intense relaxation at David Wally’s hot springs resort. It was so to get away for a few days just to relax and have fun. I got the best deep tissue massage by a guy named Jeff that could remember every single dream has ever had. He could even remember breast feeding at nine months old, his first memory. We talked spirituality, writing, politics, religion, the body, city life vs mountain life as well as 2012.

– Jaime is strongly considering the Peace Corps again. I started an application about two years ago, but I was not ready in any way to join back then. But now I think I am. I’ve even written a pros and cons list, in which the pros list was about four or five times longer than the cons. I’ll write more about this soon.

Kelly Clarkson’s new CD, All I Ever Wanted, leaked on the internet and it is amazing!  Like, seriously, every track is great and there are a ton of radio friendly tracks on there. Check it out when it is released March 10.

– This countries economic crisis has forced stocks to take a dive.  That has made me to open an E*Trade account.  Buy low, sell high, right?

Hmm, what else? I am sure there is more, but I’ll write about it when I think of it.

Madonna from my vantage

Here are some pictures I took the first night I went to Madonna on the Sticky & Sweet Tour. I went with my sister Carla, my Mom and Bonita. When I’m at a concert I don’t generally take pictures because I’d rather just be in the moment and watch the show. So here area few pics I took just so people could see about where i was sitting.

On the second night of the show I had a better seat and there were four girls sitting in front of me. One of them was watching the show through her camera, literally, the entire show. She was so worried about having the show on her camera she basically missed it.

Folsom Street Fair 2008

The year is coming to an end and there are plenty more holiday events I’m going to have to take a bunch of pictures at, so I am clearing out my camera and I realized that I never posted anything about Folsom.  It was a usual Folsom for me.  I got there. I drank too much.  I passed out early.

But this year I really did try to hang in there, ya know?  I went to brunch with friends and we took our time getting to the fair.  I was like, ‘Great, its 2pm and I”m not wasted yet.’  But as I was waiting for my friends to get there, I went and got a drink.  This time i did not drink Steel Reserve but i went to one of the bars.  I was pondering on what I should drink and I looked over to a very lovely ghetto straight couple and I asked what they were drinking and decided to follow their lead.

Um, that was a mistake, because they were taking shots of patron with a long island ice tea chaser.  I downed the first round of that.  Then I met this guy giving out shots of tequila on the sidewalk and I  hit his pipe.  After that i was feeling good.  Finally Serena and Julie got there and we walked around, saw friends, took pictures and had fun.  So I went back for another round of my fabulous drinks.  Midway through that long island, I started feeling too drunk. I don’t even remember taking half the pictures below.

I was passed out in bed my 8 pm.  I woke up at one in the morning feeling pretty ill and not really know where or when I was.

Anyway, check out the pics and enjoy.

Madonna in Oakland: Sticky & super Sweet!

MADONNA  was amazing!  IT was soo much fun to be there with my family.  the night before on halloween, somewhere, somehow i got a stomach bug.  so i was up all night being sick, but that didn’t stop me from having a good time at the show. our seats were really good, right next to the stage on the right side.  we got to see her go down on the lift …   My mom had a great time, which is what really what i wanted.  The show was amazing!  my favorites were vogue, she’s not me, into the groove, you must love me, la isla bonita!  and like a prayer.   I loved the my favorite section was the Old school section and surprisingly the gypsy section.  it was just so colorful and full of energy.  Miles Away was amazing to clap to…  I hated the last section.  I loved like a prayer and give it to me.  but the rest sucked.  4minutes didn’t look or sound good.  even though he wasn’t there, madonna was still overshadowed by JT. plus she was humping the TV screens….lame.  RAy of light was the exact same as Confessions and Hung Up was a torturous version.  You just couldn’t get into it.  But give it to me ended the show strong..   YOu could tell she was not in the most well-rested mood that night.  She seemed a little pissed off.
The second night i went by my self.  i was basically in the same seat except on the other side of the stage, plus i was three rows down and a few seats closer to the stage…so it was a better view.  Madonna was definitely in a great mood that night.  She must have been tired the night before from traveling but i guess she got her sleep, cuz she was amazing and the crowd was definitely better.  It was great to see her a second time because i noticed so much more this time around than i did the night before.  the Sticky & Sweet tour is just amazing because its soo much fun.  ITs like a big party.  She shakes it and dances around almost the entire time.  This second show you could just tell she was loving us.  At one point she was laying down close to my section and everyone was cheering and she looks at the first few rows and says “that is the sound of love.” and we definitely loved her that night.
Madonna has always been political and so when she performed on election night, you know she was going to celebrate with the crowd!
She even wore her Obama Madonna shirt, sold at the concerts!
AND last night she had Britney and Justin on stage with her!

Awkward McCain moment and a pathetic McCain aide moment

Its one thing that Joe the Plumber wasn’t where he was supposed to be at a McCain rally, as in the first video.  Awkward, but not horrible.

But in this second clip, a McCain aide is being interviewed on CNN, makes harsh comments and accusations about Barack Obama and then has absolutely nothing to back it up.  ITs hard to watch.

Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live

Holy shit.

Did you see SNL the other night with Sarah Palin on it? So funny…

Palin was a bit awkward and stiff doing the opening scene when she was with Lorne Michaels watching Tina Fey imitate her. But the real highlight was when Palin was guest on SNL Weekend Update with Amy Poehler and Seth Myers.

Palin was “supposed” to rap, but pulled out so Amy took it on. The rap was absolutely pure comedic genius. I’ve seen it like ten times.

Click here to watch Amy rap Palin style.

Tina Turner….

….Rocked the house last night at San Jose’s Hp Pavilion. The show was awesome. She didn’t play that many songs that I knew word for word, but the ones she did sing were great. My favorites were: Private Dancer, We Don’t Need Another Hero, Be Good To Me, Proud Mary, Nutbush City Limits and Simply the Best. The high point though above all of those was when she sang What’s Love Got to Do With It. I think that is when everyone in the Pavilion really felt connected.

The show was less elaborate than I thought it was going to be. Tina looked fabulous and she sounded as good as she ever has, though she definitely doesn’t dance like she used to, but she’s 67 years old, so thats ok. There was 30 minute intermission in the middle of the show and that was kind of weird, but all in all it was a great show. We had seats in the upper balcony, but we could see the stage and Tina pretty good. It didn’t seem too far away. And we got to sit next to some very enthusiastic lesbians.

It was a great great show and how many people can say they saw Tina on her last tour ever. This show has made me so excited to see Madonna in two weeks because we were far away from Tina but saw her great and my tickets for Madonna are right by the stage….

Stern Regulars ‘console’ each other over Leham Brothers Bankruptcy

My Favorite is when the guy pulls up his shirt.

Sal “the Stockbroker” Governale and Richard Christy, two Howard Stern regulars, staged a gay kiss and nipple-biting session in front of Lehman Brothers while CNN’s Allan Chernoff reported on the firm’s bankruptcy in the foreground.

I’m not quite sure what message of consolation their stunt brings, though it’s hard to imagine anyone walking their desks out of Lehman was laughing.

Palin’s Banned book list

I guess a lot happened while I as away meditating in the woods. Oh, how wonderful it was to be cut off from the world and from this sort of ridiculousness. I guess in 1996 tried to get a bunch of books banned from a public library and was even going to fire the librarian for not supporting her!

Here is the list. It is full classics! With her viewpoints I guess I could understand her reasonings behind some of the books, but why the hell would she want to ban The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn? Or any Judy Blume book?

Opening night of Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour!

Madonna finally played her first gig of the Sticky & Sweet Tour in Cardiff, Wales. I was very skeptical of the setlist and if this was going to be a good show. All my doubts have been shot down, killed and buried as I am checking out all of the pictures and videos for the show. It looks fun, COLORFUL, energetic and fabulous! There have been a few reports about somethings people didn’t like. Like the video backdrops were a little confusing and not of the highest production value. Also, one report said that Madonna was a bit impersonal. The report says that the last time she was in Cardiff for the Confessions Tour, she was talking to the crowd non’stop. But last time she was there on that tour, it was at the end of the tour. She is always more relaxed as the tour goes on. This was opening night and she had to be nervous.

I am so glad that I am seeing her towards the end of the tour, two nights in a row, no less!

So here ya go, the best of the best video clips and pictures I could find….

Into the Groove

She’s Not Me!

These two pictures are from her TourBook:

Madonna taking requests…

And the hottest dancer so far that we have seen in the best position we could have seen him in:

This is exactly what I thought the Confessions Tour was going to be like, FUN! But that one was all kinds of serious more oft than not. I can’t wait to get Sticky & Sweet!

All pictures and videos were collected from HomoFactual, MadonnaTribe, DrownedMadonna and PerezHilton.

David Blaine is a stupid bitch

Ok, now that I have a story to write for the Courier, I’m in total procrastination mode and what a better way to waste time than to post!

This is from PerezHilton:
Magician and illusionist David Blaine is ready to perform his latest act.

What stoopidity is he getting himself into now????

Blaine will be hanging upside down for three days and two nights above New York’s Central Park.

Upside down for three days????

Won’t his head explode or some shit????

As he is prone to do, David wants gawkers to “interact” with with him.

Of his previous interactions, Blaine says, “There are always some crazy things. I get flashed quite often. Luckily, mostly from girls.”

As part of his act, Blaine will be hanging six stories up in the air suspended on a highwire.

He will also be deprived of food for his Dive of Death stunt.

The whole event will be filmed for television on September 24th.

Later this year Blaine will attempt to break the world record for sleep deprivation.

Good luck, fool.

Sooo, wait a minute. I thought magicians and illusionists were supposed to perform, you know, tricks. Things that would made the average person go, “Wow!”

As far as I can tell, this guy is out of tricks. He doesn’t really seem to perform any feats of MAGIC just extreme endurance challenges, which you don’t need to be an illusionist to do, just very well conditioned, physically.

Is it really magic if he can stay awake for two weeks straight? Is it magic that he can stay under water for an hour? Not really. Its extreme and I’m sure not many people can do it, but c’mon.

I’d be impressed if he was under water for two days, turned into a dragon and blew fire out of his ass while butterflies lifted him up…that would be cool.

More on Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour

Costume designs for Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet tour have hit the Web!

Madge has teamed up again with designer/stylist Arianne Phillips. The two have worked together for about 11 years.

Phillips told Women’s Wear Daily that this new tour has posed an interesting challenge.

She says, “Normally we prep in April and May, and open in June. This time, the tour begins in August. It’s a nightmare. Everyone in Italy and France is on a beach sunning themselves.”

Phillips also revealed, “Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci designed two outfits and Tom Ford provided bespoke suits for the band. Three pairs of shoes have been custom-made by Miu Miu, there are thigh-high boots courtesy of Stella McCartney, sunglasses from Moschino, and other outfits and odds and ends from Yves Saint Laurent, Roberto Cavalli, and Jeremy Scott.”

Also, as in the past, this tour will be divided into four sections.

The first references gangsta pimp and Art Deco with Givenchy costumes. The dominatrix look will be featured prominently:

“It’s a theme that runs throughout her career. She’s not afraid of being hard,” said the costume designer.

The second section has been termed “Old School” and looks back at Madge’s early days in New York. This section will feature some vintage prints from Keith Haring, the late graffiti artist and friend of Madonna who died of AIDS in 1990. Phillips said, “He and Madonna were friends. If he were alive, it would be his 50th birthday as well. So I thought, ‘What if we revisited that?’”

The third party will be gypsy-influenced and the final section will feature a futuristic rave look with lots of Japanese influences.

Phillips also went on to say that getting older has had little effect on Madge’s sense of fashion adventure, “She always wants to push the envelope. There are no vanity considerations based on her age…She looks good in everything.”
