A Dark Time in Cookie History

This is from Uncle John. He’s devastated.

“Not sure which you guys ate growing up, Oreo’s or Hydrox. Myself, I hated both of them. I have always been a Famous Amos cookie man. The wonderful Ambrosia chocolate chip hard, crunchy cookie, with or without pecans always worked for me. But I feel the pain of missing your favorite product. When NECCO (New England Confectionary Company) took the infamous “squirrel nut zippers” (my favorite, caramel rather then original) off the market, fans took to the net and a mailing campaign to bring the item back 2 years after taking it off the market in 2002. Again, this time at age 38 rather than 9, I purchased a full retailers box of the yummy delights. At age 9 it was $5, at 38, $19.99 plus $6.50 in shipping. But as an adult with full earning power, no problemo! Well worth it.”
