live earth. a success or just a good show?

The much anticipated Live Earth event has come and gone. The global concerts aimed to raise awareness about global warming took place on all seven continents. Sydney to Japan, New Jersey to Rio De Janeiro, big names rocked big stages in hopes of saving life as we know it. There were thousands of people in attendance at each venue, cheering and dancing, waving beer bottles and cameras. The Police, newly reunited and Sting sexy as ever, closed the New Jersey show, while Madonna, of course, rocked the shit out of London. It was a momentous day.

But now that it is over the stages are being deconstructed and everyone has gone home. Millions tuned in on tv. The shows were awesome. But were the concerts a success? Did the people watching really get it? Did the message that global warming is serious reality that we need to deal with now really sink into everybody’s skulls? Did these concerts inspire change in those who attended or participated from home?

Or was it just a really good show?
